 Our Story

Lisa's love for fish started at a young age, nurtured by her mother's huge goldfish tank. This childhood fascination grew into a lifelong obsession, and as a young teen and into adulthood, Lisa continued to keep fish tanks, eventually accumulating a collection of 70 tanks, holding over 3000 gallons of water in their basement or “Lady Cave.” When Martin retired from the Air Force, he saw an opportunity to help Lisa turn her hobby into a business. With his support, Lisa was finally able to fulfill her lifelong dream of opening her very own tropical fish store, built with the goal of providing healthy, happy fish to customers. Martin's unwavering support allowed Lisa to pursue her passion, and their joint efforts have resulted in a thriving business that continues to bring joy and inspiration to all who visit.

Martin and Lisa's love for fish-keeping has led to the creation of an incredible 5000 sq ft retail location, Super Cichlids. With unwavering determination and a true passion for the hobby, they personally took on 90% of the building renovations to bring their vision to life. The result is a stunning showcase of over 16,000 gallons of tanks, housing an array of exotic fish from all corners of the world. The indoor pond, giant 10 foot long show tank and numerous other captivating features have left a lasting impression on visitors and customers alike. Their hard work, combined with their passion and teamwork, has resulted in a thriving business that continues to make waves in the industry. And now, with the addition of Stendker Discus USA, their success story is only just beginning.

 For half a century, Stendker Discus in Germany has been breeding a unique and special variety of discus that is perfectly adapted to life in tap water, making them both hardy and easy to care for. When Stendker Discus in Germany announced their intention to close their breeding operations, we knew we had to act fast to preserve these remarkable fish for future generations. That's why we teamed up with Stendker to establish Stendker Discus USA, a new breeding facility based in the United States. With the support of our German partners and a state-of-the-art facility boasting 7000 sq ft of breeding space, we are committed to ensuring that these special discus continue to thrive and flourish. Currently, we have hundreds of breeding pairs waiting for their new homes, and once Stendker Discus in Germany has sold its remaining stock, we will begin breeding and shipping these discus to aquarists all over the US.
